Update on “Falcon Studios Remake Flashpoint”

Falcon Flashpoint

John Rutherford who directed the original Flashpoint: Hotter Than Hell back in 1994 posted his own opinion about “Falcon Studios To Remake FLASHPOINT” on ATKOL forum

I have mixed feelings on this – though it was not my first movie for Falcon during my 15 years directing at the old bird, it was one with some of my all-time favorite memories while working there. I suppose that says something since I had directed, worked as cameraman and produced over 280 movies during my tenure.

My new favorite movie that I’m most proud of in my new chapter here at COLT Studio Group is BuckleRoos – it’s funny that BuckleRoos was actually shot, released and awarded exactly 10 years later… Not only coincidental, interesting as well while I journey forward.

I hear they’re using our location from BIG RIG on this new remake too – seems strange to imitate one movie while “remaking” another, but I hope it works out for them.

All my best to you!

Happy viewing,

And Mr. Jett Blakk replied…

Mr. Rutherford, I must tell you that FLASHPOINT is probably my favorite Falcon film, as well, which is why we are moving away from a remake of it and making this one more of a stand alone film.

I have not seen BIG RIG, but after I finished the script, it turned out that a lot of the sets we needed could be found at the same location you used. At the time, I did not know that you had used that location. That was purely coincidental, but it has everything we need, and at the right price, so it is also a necessity, which as a producer, I”m sure you understand. Not strange at all.

I am not imitating your film, nor am I really remaking another, anymore. I appreciate that you are on a journey forward in your career. I am, too, as I am honored to be given this chance to take a big step forward.

Thank you for your well wishes. You have my best, too.
